• The TBT budget is new as of 2026-09-05 and is honest about its own limits: no field source populates it. Total Blocking Time needs a long-tasks trace, which the real-user beacon does not capture, so the budget is read only by a scheduled lab audit’s comparison. On a site without the Pro add-on the field saves and measures nothing — a deliberate compromise so the budget map stays in one place.
• is_regression() and the banding key off the metric name and neither knows nor cares which source produced the value, so TBT needed no new comparison code.
